How this calculator works

Tile plus grout joint forms a repeating module. The calculator determines how many modules cross each axis of one rectangular surface.

A centered grid splits the remaining cut space approximately equally across opposite edges. If this creates narrow slivers, shift the control line and dry-lay again.

The tile count includes every grid position and then applies an allowance. Reuse of opposite edge cuts is not promised, so a real cut plan can differ.
